Rey Fénix is still alive in the tournament for a shot at Roman Reigns’ World Heavyweight Championship. On Monday’s RAW in Buffalo, New York, the reigning AAA World Cruiserweight Champion defeated El Fiscal to punch his ticket to the semifinals.
It was a competitive match. El Fiscal took away some of Fénix’s speed and targeted his left knee, coming close to the win on more than one occasion. Fénix fought back, though, and pulled out the victory.
Fénix will face Dragon Lee in the semifinals on August 24.
Fénix’s win keeps alive the possibility of a Lucha Brothers final. If Penta and Fénix meet in the finals, it would be the first singles match between the brothers in WWE.
The tournament winner will earn what may be their biggest opportunity yet in WWE, challenging Roman Reigns for the World Heavyweight Championship on the September 14 RAW, live from Arena CDMX in Mexico City.
