Scorpio Sky has finally addressed rumors about the end of his AEW contract, which is reportedly expected to expire in October of this year.
The wrestler has been part of the company since its founding in 2019, and signed a five-year extension in 2021. However, as of now, there’s no word on negotiations for a new deal.
In a recent interview with Tagging In with Chris Harris, Sky admitted he does think about the future, but said his focus right now is on closing out this chapter the right way.
“I’d be lying if I didn’t tell you I thought about what I’m going to do and what the future looks like, but I really try not to put too much into that. Right now, I’m focused on finishing this chapter the right way.
I have a lot of stories and matches and moments left to be a part of, and I’m excited to step into those moments. So we’ll let tomorrow handle tomorrow and I’m just gonna focus on today.”
Despite the contract uncertainty, Sky remains active on AEW and Ring of Honor programming. On the ROH TV episode that aired July 9, he teamed with Dante Martin and Darius Martin to defeat The Frat House.
Sky also remains one of the top names in SkyFlight, a group that includes Top Flight, Christopher Daniels, Leila Grey, Zayda Steel, and Matt Sydal.
Scorpio Sky was one of the first AEW World Tag Team Champions, alongside Frankie Kazarian, and has also held the TNT Championship on two occasions.
