Sheamus does not hold any resentment toward WWE over never winning the Intercontinental Championship.
During a recent interview with Adam’s Apple, Sheamus was asked whether ending his WWE run without capturing the title was a regret.
“I’ve had an amazing career, fella. No regrets. I mean it. No regrets.”
The Intercontinental title was the only major WWE championship that Sheamus never captured. His most recent opportunity came at Saturday Night’s Main Event on January 25, 2025, where Bron Breakker retained after hitting a Spear to Sheamus’ injured ribs.
Sheamus also came close at Survivor Series 2024. He hit Breakker with the Brogue Kick during their triple threat match with Ludwig Kaiser, but Kaiser pulled the referee out of the ring before the count could be completed. Breakker eventually retained the championship.
His pursuit also included a loss to Gunther at Clash at the Castle in 2022, and another unsuccessful challenge against Gunther and Drew McIntyre at WrestleMania 39. During the WrestleMania match, Sheamus nearly secured the title before McIntyre dragged him out of the ring to stop the pin.
The comments come amid uncertainty surrounding Sheamus’ WWE status. Fightful Select reported that he remains under contract until October 1, 2026, despite earlier reports that he is expected to leave the company after declining a restructured extension.
