Kyoki, formerly known as Hiromu Takahashi, had his first televised match in WWE during the Friday Night SmackDown tapings set to air on September 4. The show was taped this Friday, August 28, at the Rocket Arena in Cleveland, Ohio.
Teaming with Shinsuke Nakamura, Kyoki defeated The Miz and Kit Wilson. The Japanese duo was also introduced during the tapings under the name Bakusai.
After the match, WWE Tag Team Champions Tama Tonga and Talla Tonga of MFT appeared to confront Nakamura and Kyoki. Taping reports indicate the segment continued with the champions intensely staring down the duo, further strengthening the possibility of a future title match.

On the August 21 Friday Night SmackDown, Kyoki made his first televised appearance in WWE and was officially introduced as Nakamura’s new partner. Both sent a direct message to Tama Tonga and Talla Tonga, making their interest in the WWE Tag Team Championship clear.
Kyoki had also competed for WWE before this taping. On August 24, before Monday Night RAW in Ottawa, he defeated Kit Wilson in a dark match, which was his official in-ring debut for the company after leaving NJPW in February.
