Add as a preferred source on Google Trick Williams, the current WWE United States Champion, issued a major challenge to Booker T on the latest episode of the Hall of Fame podcast. Williams wants to face his mentor in the main event of SummerSlam 2027, with the title on the line.
Williams pointed to SummerSlam 2001, when Booker T defended the WCW Championship against The Rock in the main event of the night.
“Booker T versus Trick Williams, main event of SummerSlam for the championship!”
Booker T did not rule out the possibility. The WWE Hall of Famer said he plans to use the next year to see whether his body can still handle the preparation needed for one more match at a high level.
“I never say never. I’m never gonna close the book on any chapter.”
The idea of a match between them is not new. In 2024, Williams had already expressed interest in being part of Booker T’s final match. The veteran later called it a dream match, though he also said he should continue working as a mentor away from the cameras.
Williams is in a very different position now, however. He won the title from Sami Zayn at WrestleMania 42 and has already defended it against Zayn and Ricky Saints at Night of Champions.
Booker T’s most recent WWE match came in the 2023 Royal Rumble, where Gunther eliminated him after 42 seconds.
