Trick Williams could be headed for the world title picture sooner than later.

WRKD Wrestling reports that the former United States Champion is one of the names under consideration to win this year’s men’s Money in the Bank ladder match.

That word came just hours after Williams dropped the United States Championship to Baron Corbin on night two of SummerSlam in Minneapolis. The loss leaves him without a program over the secondary title and clears the way for a move up the card.

Williams has already brushed up against that level since being called up to SmackDown in January. He beat Matt Cardona to earn a spot in a fatal four-way that determined the next challenger for the Undisputed WWE Championship, and weeks later he beat Carmelo Hayes and Damian Priest to qualify for the men’s Elimination Chamber match, with a shot at that same title at WrestleMania 42 on the line.

Williams was also featured on the first promotional poster for Money in the Bank alongside IYO SKY, Sol Ruca and Penta. That doesn’t guarantee he wins the match or even works it, but it does speak to how WWE plans to position him during the build to the show.

Money in the Bank takes place October 10 at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, Louisiana.
