Triple H paid tribute to Benjamin Satterley, who was known as PAC in AEW and as Neville during his WWE run. AEW confirmed Satterley’s death on Sunday night. He was 40.
In a social media post, WWE’s chief content officer recalled working with Satterley during NXT’s early years.
“Saddened to hear about the death of Ben Satterley,” Triple H wrote, noting that Satterley was known as Neville in WWE. He said he “had the pleasure of working with Ben in the early days” of NXT. “This moment, from NXT Arrival, marked the beginning of a new era for that brand and the men and women on it,” he wrote, “and Ben was a major force behind that.” Triple H called Satterley “an extraordinary talent and even kinder human being” and closed his post with, “My thoughts are with his family, friends, and fans across the world.”
The moment Triple H pointed to came at NXT Arrival on February 27, 2014, when Neville defeated Bo Dallas in the first ladder match in NXT history to win the NXT Championship. He held the title for 286 days, and Sami Zayn ended the reign in December 2014.
Satterley signed with WWE in 2012. Beyond the NXT Championship, he was a two-time NXT Tag Team Champion and had two reigns as WWE Cruiserweight Champion. He left WWE in 2018 and signed with AEW the following year.
PAC became the inaugural AEW All-Atlantic Champion, a title that was later renamed the International Championship. He also won the AEW World Trios Championship twice.
His final match came Saturday at All Out in Chicago, where he lost to Andrade El Idolo.
