Triple H was quick to react to one of the most emotional moments of SummerSlam night two, as Chad Gable beat Penta in front of his hometown crowd in Minneapolis to win the Intercontinental Title.
Penta went for a second Mexican Destroyer late in the match, but Gable countered it into the Ankle Lock and forced the champion to tap in the middle of the ring.
Gable was in tears afterward. Penta strapped the title around his waist and raised his hand before Gable’s family came into the ring to celebrate with him.
Triple H posted the following on social media following the win.
“The road to redemption AND THE INTERCONTINENTAL TITLE ran through his hometown of Minneapolis, MN. Congratulations, @wwegable! #SummerSlam”

The reaction lands a little differently given the history between the two. During Gable’s contract negotiations in 2024, Triple H said he wanted to keep him in WWE forever and called him an incredible performer, while Gable has said his career changed as soon as Triple H took over creative.
The win also closed the loop on Gable and Penta. Penta made his WWE debut by beating Gable on the January 13, 2025 episode of Monday Night RAW, and in the biggest match the two have had since, Gable got his win back with the title on the line.
It is the first singles championship of Gable’s WWE run, coming more than a decade into his time with the company.
