Will Ospreay and Kenny Omega will headline AEW All In London next Sunday, August 30 at Wembley Stadium, but the company considered other directions for its biggest show of the year.
In a recent interview with Scott Fishman of TV Insider, Ospreay confirmed that discussions took place about different main event scenarios before the decision was made to book his match against Omega for the AEW World Championship.
Fishman brought up MJF, Jon Moxley, and even a potential Triple Threat Match as examples. While Ospreay didn’t specifically confirm any of those options were on the table, he did share some new details.
“There were definitely discussions that it could go into different directions. But I feel like the natural and the right choice was to go with myself and Kenny because we’ve been preaching to the world that this is where the best wrestle.
Myself and Kenny are two of the most influential wrestlers in the last decade. This match is two of the greatest wrestlers of this generation going head-to-head and finally finding out which one is the best.”
The All In main event took shape after Ospreay won the Owen Hart Cup at Forbidden Door on June 28, earning an AEW World Championship match at All In. Omega captured the title by defeating MJF on the July 8 Dynamite “Beach Break.”
This will be the fourth singles match between the two. Omega won their bouts at PWG in 2015 and at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 17 in 2023. Ospreay picked up his lone victory at Forbidden Door that same year.
Omega heads into Wembley holding a 2-1 edge in the series.
