Will Ospreay, one of AEW‘s top stars, revealed that his behind-the-scenes work with Pro Wrestling EVE has completely changed his relationship with women’s wrestling.

Ospreay works as a producer and member of the British promotion’s creative team, helping put matches together, bring in talent, and build shows around the women as the main attraction.

In a recent appearance on Marking Out with MVP & Dwayne Swayze, the Aerial Assassin said he’s gotten an up-close look at the struggles women face on the British independent scene.

“I get real passionate about women’s wrestling now. Because I do believe that being a part of it, I’ve seen the short end of the straw. A lot of the times on the British indie scene, you’ll get the one women’s match — at best two. So they’re kind of like the side piece. Eve, they’re the whole focus. They’re the story, they’re the main characters, and we can dictate the story however we want it to go. Honestly, it’s like, doing that Wrestle Queendom show was like top five moments of my entire career. It was so cool to watch that thing come to life.”

Ospreay’s involvement with EVE was put on full display at Wrestle Queendom VIII, held March 8 at Indigo at The O2 in London. The show brought together names from AEW, STARDOM, and the independent scene, including Kris Statlander, Willow Nightingale, Harley Cameron, Jamie Hayter, Nyla Rose, AZM, Syuri, and Charlie, formerly known as Dakota Kai in WWE.

Beyond helping with production, Ospreay taps into the relationships he’s built in NJPW and AEW to bring international talent to England.

“I’ve got an amazing relationship with a lot of the Japanese joshi girls. I’ve got an amazing relationship with everyone at AEW. I just bring them over. I put them on like at the end of the night. I put them on meet and greets. I make my money back from the flight and the tickets, like, pay their wage.”

His presence has also helped raise EVE’s profile. In June, current EVE Champion Session Moth Martina said a lot of fans show up to the events because of him, but stick around for the women’s wrestling.

The promotion’s next major event, EVE x The World 2, is set for August 28, during AEW All In weekend. Two days later, Ospreay will challenge Kenny Omega for the AEW World Championship at Wembley Stadium.
