Add as a preferred source on Google Willow Nightingale is convinced that winning a world championship is just a matter of time. On Sunday, July 26, 2026, she will challenge Thekla for the AEW Women’s World Championship at Redemption, a pay-per-view at the Bell Centre in Montreal.
Nightingale returned from a shoulder injury on July 8 and won the Casino Gauntlet Match that same night to earn the title shot. The injury had cut short her second reign as TBS Champion.
In an interview with The Takedown on SI, Nightingale said believing in the win is an essential part of the journey to get there.
“I don’t think you could even get as close to tasting the gold if you don’t believe it yourself first,” she said.
“Whatever goals or dreams you aspire to, you have to believe that it is set out for you. It’s not a question of if it’s going to happen. It’s how do I get there? When do I get there?”
Sunday’s match will be Nightingale’s fourth shot at AEW’s top women’s title. She was defeated by Toni Storm and Hikaru Shida in 2023, and by Mariah May at WrestleDream 2024.
“Sunday, in a lot of ways, feels like that could finally be the moment for me. If it’s not Sunday, I’m going to make it happen. It’s going to happen,” Nightingale said.
“It feels like something that is written ahead of me, and I’m just living my life until that day eventually comes.”
A win would also put Nightingale into AEW All In London, where Mercedes Moné already has a title shot after winning the Owen Hart Cup again.
