Add as a preferred source on Google Liv Morgan isn’t planning on dropping the WWE Women’s World Championship any time soon. Ahead of her defense against IYO SKY at SummerSlam, the Judgment Day member said she’s aiming for 1,000 days with the belt.
Speaking with ESPN, Morgan pointed to her track record at the show. She retained over Ronda Rousey in 2022, when the belt was still the SmackDown Women’s Title, and beat Rhea Ripley in 2024, going in as champion and walking out with the gold both times.
“I’d love to keep my streak going. Like you said, I am 2-0 at SummerSlam. I have a great track record, so I’d love to keep that going. But most importantly, I want to retain my Women’s World Championship.”
“I am over 100 days as champion, and I want to make it a thousand days as champion. So, retaining this weekend and defeating Iyo Sky, one of the best in the world, reminding everyone just exactly who I am in that ring. I’m very much looking forward to that opportunity.”
Morgan, who won the Royal Rumble in January, took the title from Stephanie Vaquer on Night One of WrestleMania 42 on April 18 with help from Roxanne Perez and Raquel Rodriguez. It’s her third reign with the championship. She’s put it on the line just twice since, both at house shows in England during the June European tour.
Saturday will be her first televised or PLE defense of the run, a stretch that’s drawn plenty of heat online. SKY has the momentum, having beaten Morgan in the Queen of the Ring final at Night of Champions on June 27 in Riyadh and then picking her as the SummerSlam opponent.
Morgan vs. SKY takes place on Night One of SummerSlam on August 1 at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, airing on ESPN in the U.S. and Netflix internationally.
