Add as a preferred source on Google AAA has moved night one of Triplemanía 34 to a bigger building after the show sold out at the Luxor.
WWE announced Thursday that the 9/11 card will now run from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, citing “unprecedented demand.” The date and 7 p.m. PT start time are unchanged.
It’s a major step up in size. The Luxor’s theater is listed at 1,533 seats, while the Grand Garden Arena holds roughly 17,000 — more than ten times the capacity.
A WWE presale for the new venue starts 8/3 at 10 a.m. PT, with the general public on sale the following day at the same time through AXS. Fans who already bought tickets for the Luxor will receive more information on the change.
Triplemanía 34 is the first to run across two nights and two countries. After Las Vegas on 9/11, AAA heads to Arena CDMX in Mexico City on Sunday, 9/13. WWE is in the same building that weekend for SmackDown on 9/11 and RAW on 9/14.
Full cards haven’t been announced, but Dominik Mysterio defending the AAA Mega Championship against El Grande Americano is set, as is a four-way for the vacant AAA Latin American Title that El Hijo del Vikingo gave up due to injury. Rey Mysterio, Vikingo, Psycho Clown, La Catalina and Rey Fénix are among the names advertised.
Triplemanía 33 drew 19,691 to Arena CDMX last August and set AAA’s all-time gate record. WWE said the show topped 4.3 million viewers in its first 24 hours on the WWE and AAA YouTube channels, making it the most-viewed and highest-grossing Triplemanía ever.
