CM Punk will put the Undisputed WWE Championship on the line against Cody Rhodes and Gunther in a Triple Threat Match at WWE Summer Tour this Thursday, August 6, at EagleBank Arena in Fairfax, Virginia.

The match was announced as one of three title matches on the card. The show is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. ET. Also on the lineup: The Usos challenge World Tag Team Champions The Vision, and Carmelo Hayes, Ricky Saints and Trick Williams go after United States Champion Baron Corbin in a Fatal 4-Way Match.

This will be Punk’s third defense since winning the title, exactly one month after he ended Sami Zayn’s nine-day reign on the July 6 episode of Monday Night RAW in Chicago.

His first defense came 10 days later at another WWE Summer Tour show in Allentown, Pennsylvania, where Punk defeated Gunther to retain the title. He then defended it against Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam on August 1 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Rhodes came close to regaining the title, but Randy Orton returned during the match and hit the American Nightmare with an RKO. Unaware of what had happened, Punk hit the GTS for the win.

The match in Fairfax will bring together the first two challengers of Punk’s current reign. Gunther also played a direct role in the title change in Chicago, attacking Rhodes before his scheduled rematch against Zayn. The attack left Rhodes medically unable to compete and opened the door for Zayn to take his place.

Punk will now make his first defense in a Triple Threat Match during this reign, just five days after defeating Rhodes at SummerSlam. The match also gives Gunther another shot at the champion following his loss in Allentown, while Cody could regain the title without having to beat Punk directly.
