Rey Fenix captured the AAA World Cruiserweight Championship on Saturday night at AAA Noche de Los Grandes, held at Arena Monterrey in Monterrey, Mexico.
Fenix defeated Laredo Kid in the opening match of the special, ending a title reign that dated back to December 2024. It also marked Fenix’s first major accomplishment since arriving in WWE in April 2025.
During the match, Laredo Kid once again tried to cut corners to retain the title, even removing one of the turnbuckle pads and going for a low blow on Fenix.
In the end, however, the strategy backfired on the defending champion. Laredo crashed into the exposed corner, allowing Fenix to hit a Musclebuster and score the win.
With the win, Fenix now has a bigger spotlight in AAA programming, while his brother Penta continues his run as Intercontinental Champion on WWE’s main roster.
