Zilla Fatu’s First WWE Match Officially Set

On Tuesday’s episode of NXT, the newest signee put pen to paper on his WWE deal and turned the Heatwave title match into a Fatal 4-Way.

Tony D’Angelo will now defend the NXT Championship against Fatu, Grayson Waller, and Cruz Montana.

The shakeup came shortly after Robert Stone had announced D’Angelo vs. Waller vs. Montana in a Triple Threat Match earlier in the show. The General Manager booked the Triple Threat after last week’s match between Montana and Waller ended without a decisive finish.

However, when Fatu finally arrived in the closing minutes of the broadcast to sign his WWE contract, Stone added him to the NXT Championship match.

This all started on the August 11 episode of NXT, when Montana and Waller were competing for a shot at D’Angelo’s NXT Title. Fatu showed up unannounced and attacked both men, then made it clear he had his sights set on the championship too.

NXT Heatwave takes place on August 30, 2026, at the Bert Ogden Arena in Edinburg, Texas.
