Jackson Drake scored a big win on Tuesday’s NXT, beating Shiloh Hill and locking in two title opportunities for the Vanity Project at Heatwave.
Per the stipulation, a Drake win would earn him an WWE NXT North American Championship match, while Brad Baylor and Ricky Smokes would get their rematch for the NXT Tag Team Championship. Before the bell, Myles Borne also offered Hill the same North American title shot if he came out on top.
The match was loaded with interference. Myka Lockwood hopped up on the apron, while Baylor and Smokes jumped Hill from behind. The referee caught on moments later and tossed all three from ringside.
Hill looked like he had finally found his opening to put the match away, but the referee went down in the closing stretch. That’s when Naraku hit the ring and blasted Hill with poison mist. Drake seized the moment, went up top, and connected with a 450 Splash to pin Hill for the win.
With the victory, Jackson Drake will challenge Myles Borne for the NXT North American Championship at Heatwave. Baylor and Smokes also earned their shot to reclaim the NXT Tag Team Championship from Borne and Tavion Heights.
