Zilla Fatu only recently arrived in WWE NXT, but his stay in developmental may end up being a short one.
On the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer discussed the future of Umaga’s son and indicated that a main roster call-up will happen “soon enough.”
Fatu made his first official WWE appearance on August 11 during the NXT main event. Grayson Waller and Cruz Montana were competing for a shot at the NXT Championship when Fatu hit the ring and attacked both men, causing the match to end in a no-contest.
The following week on August 18, Fatu officially signed his NXT contract. The segment ended with Tony D’Angelo, Waller, and Montana involved in a big brawl, and it was confirmed that the newcomer would immediately be part of the NXT Championship picture.
As a result, Zilla Fatu will face Tony D’Angelo, Grayson Waller, and Cruz Montana in a Fatal 4-Way Match for the NXT Championship at Heatwave on August 30. It will be his first official WWE match.
Although many expected Fatu to debut directly alongside Roman Reigns and the rest of his family, starting in NXT was apparently always the plan. According to False Finish, WWE intended to follow a similar path to the one used with Solo Sikoa, giving Fatu some time in developmental before moving him up.
