Mike Bailey now knows when he’ll get his shot at the AEW International Championship. AEW has confirmed his match against Kyle Fletcher for Grand Slam Mexico on Wednesday, May 8, at Arena México in Mexico City.
The special will air live in the United States on TBS and HBO Max, starting at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT, and will mark the second Grand Slam Mexico held at that venue.
Bailey earned the opportunity at AEW Redemption in Montreal, winning a six-way ladder match over Jack Perry, The Beast Mortos, Komander, Nick Wayne and El Clon. In the match’s final stretch, the Canadian hit Mortos with the Ultima Weapon onto a ladder, then grabbed the contract hanging above the ring.
That same night, Fletcher retained the AEW International Championship by defeating Bandido with a turnbuckle brainbuster. Every member of the Don Callis Family was barred from ringside, and the champion won without any outside interference.
This will be the third singles match between Fletcher and Bailey in AEW. Bailey won the first on October 12, 2025, during the Continental Classic, while Fletcher evened the series on November 3, 2026, when he retained the TNT Championship after interference from Kazuchika Okada and Mark Davis.
The Arena México match will settle the rivalry. For Bailey, it’s also a chance to win his first singles championship in AEW, while Fletcher puts on the line the title he took from Konosuke Takeshita at Beach Break on August 7.
