Add as a preferred source on Google MJF has been removed from the main promotional artwork for AEW Grand Slam: Mexico, adding to the uncertainty over whether he’ll appear at the show and how long he’ll remain off television.
AEW updated the poster on Wednesday, July 22, placing current AEW World Champion Kenny Omega in the spot previously held by MJF.
The change came two weeks after Omega defeated MJF on the July 8 episode of AEW Dynamite: Beach Break, ending Friedman’s third reign as AEW World Champion after 45 days.
As Wrestling Noticias previously reported, sources within AEW have indicated that MJF could be off television for some time. That absence still hasn’t been officially confirmed, though, and there’s no explanation or timetable for a return. Even so, the former champion is still considered part of the plans for All In.
By itself, the poster change doesn’t confirm that MJF is out of Grand Slam: Mexico.
The event will take place August 5 at Arena México in Mexico City, airing live in the United States on TBS and HBO Max.
MJF played a central role in the first AEW Grand Slam: Mexico back in 2025. He lost to Místico by disqualification, and after the match, he tore off Místico’s mask and put it on, kicking off a rivalry that later carried over to CMLL’s 92nd Anniversary show.
