Add as a preferred source on Google Kyle Fletcher has acknowledged that his relationship with Kazuchika Okada isn’t fully healthy following the latest episode of AEW Dynamite in Nashville, Tennessee.
On that show, Fletcher and Okada took on Bandido and Brody King. In the closing moments, King escaped a Rainmaker attempt, and Okada ended up hitting Fletcher with the move instead. Bandido capitalized, hit a 21 Plex and picked up the win. Fletcher blamed Okada for the loss after the match, screaming in his face.
The subject came back up at the press conference following AEW Redemption, where Fletcher beat Bandido to retain the AEW International Championship. He had this to say:
“I think there is probably going to be tension after someone Rainmakers you in the face when they definitely should not have been doing so. So I think we will see how things play out. There will probably have to be some hard sit-downs and some hard discussions before the next time we have to team up together.”
“But I think we’re strong enough to get through these differences, I would like to say. We will see what unfolds.”
The tension between Okada and Fletcher isn’t new and runs deep. Fletcher has beaten Okada twice in singles matches in AEW, during the 2024 and 2025 editions of the Continental Classic.
Fletcher is now gearing up to defend the title against Mike Bailey at Grand Slam Mexico, set for August 5 at Arena México.
