AEW has confirmed a major match for the next episode of AEW Dynamite, which will be a special titled Summer Blockbuster. The show will take place Wednesday, June 10, at the Andrew J. Brady Music Center in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Swerve Strickland will face Brody King in a men’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournament semifinal. The winner will advance to face Will Ospreay in the tournament final at Forbidden Door.
The match will carry a personal edge. King wants revenge for what Strickland did to Bandido, while Swerve has vowed to be ready for an all-out war.
Strickland reached the semifinal after defeating Bandido at Double or Nothing. King, meanwhile, advanced by defeating Claudio Castagnoli in a highly physical match on the May 27 episode of AEW Dynamite.
The Owen Hart Foundation Tournament winner will earn a shot at the AEW World Championship at All In, which will take place at Wembley Stadium in London.
AEW Dynamite: Summer Blockbuster will air live on TBS and HBO Max at 8/7c in the United States.
Forbidden Door will take place June 28 at SAP Center in San Jose, California, airing on pay-per-view and HBO.
