AEW has finally laid out how it will crown a new TBS Champion after Willow Nightingale was forced to vacate the title due to injury.

During Saturday’s episode of AEW Collision, Tony Schiavone announced that six women will compete in qualifying matches over the next month. The winners will advance to a Survival of the Fittest Match on the July 1 episode of AEW Dynamite.

The winner of that match will be declared the new AEW TBS Champion. The July 1 show will take place at Viejas Arena in San Diego, California.

The announcement came after Nightingale revealed that she suffered a right shoulder injury and had to relinquish the TBS Championship. She also withdrew from the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament, forcing an immediate change in plans.

Willow had been in the middle of a strong reign, with ten successful title defenses. The injury reportedly happened during her defense against Red Velvet on the May 16 episode of AEW Collision.

So far, AEW has not revealed the qualifying matches.
