Big Cass has struggled to re-establish himself as one of the top names on Raw since returning to WWE in August after eight years away. The problem may come down to his former tag team partner, Enzo Amore.
According to WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select, some members of WWE’s creative team believe fans are still waiting for Amore to return. That wait is making it harder to build new storylines around Cass, the report says.
Although not everyone in WWE shares that view, WrestleVotes reports there is a feeling that anticipation of a reunion between the former partners is hurting the company’s plans for Cass.
As previously reported, WWE at one point considered bringing Amore back to NXT, with Cass remaining a solo act on the main roster. The idea was to keep a reunion from limiting Cass’ potential as a singles wrestler.
On Monday’s Raw, Cass interfered in a tag team match pitting Rey Mysterio and Dragon Lee against Dominik Mysterio and JD McDonagh, knocking Lee off the apron before Rey could make the tag. Cass attacked Rey and Lee after The Judgment Day picked up the win, continuing the feud.
Enzo Amore and Big Cass were one of NXT’s most popular tag teams. They were called up to the main roster in 2016, and the team broke up in June 2017, when Cass revealed himself as the man behind a series of attacks on Amore.
