Athena has put together one of the most dominant title reigns in recent pro wrestling history, but she now has her sights set on turning that ROH success into AEW gold.
The current ROH Women’s World Champion laid out her goals in an interview with the Dallas Morning News. Athena said she plans to go after the AEW Women’s World Championship, the TBS Championship, and the AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championship.
“I’ve given years of my career being the forever ROH champion. I’ve given so much to be the longest reigning champion in the modern day era. But when it comes to me, I want to do more with AEW. So this means more.
I want to be AEW Women’s champion. I want to be AEW TBS champion. I want to be an AEW tag champion to show the world that everything that I’ve done, holding a whole company on my back, climbing to the top of the mountain with it, was all worth it.”
Athena has held the ROH Women’s World Championship since December 10, 2022, when she defeated Mercedes Martinez at Final Battle. During her reign, she surpassed Samoa Joe to become the longest-reigning champion in ROH history.
The Fallen Goddess has already come close to capturing her first AEW title. After winning the Women’s Casino Gauntlet Match at All In Texas in 2025, she challenged Toni Storm for the AEW Women’s World Championship at Forbidden Door but lost by submission.
The three championships Athena named are currently held by Mercedes Moné, who won the AEW Women’s World Championship at All In: London, TBS Champion Persephone, and the Brawling Birds, Jamie Hayter and Alex Windsor, who hold the AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championship.
