With tonight’s WWE SmackDown only hours away, WWE has announced a new match featuring six prominent names from the women’s division.
WWE Women’s Champion Chelsea Green will team with Paige and Tiffany Stratton to face Fatal Influence in a six-woman tag team match. The stable is made up of Women’s United States Champion Jacy Jayne and WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Fallon Henley and Lainey Reid.
The match builds on several recent run-ins among the six women. In August, Jayne defeated Stratton to win the Women’s United States Championship with help from Fatal Influence. Two weeks later, the new champion beat Paige after Henley and Reid created a distraction.
Green and Stratton have also challenged Henley and Reid for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship. That title shot came on the August 7 episode of SmackDown, but Fatal Influence retained the titles.
Paige’s history with the stable runs even deeper. At SummerSlam, she teamed with Nikki and Brie Bella in a loss to Jayne, Henley and Reid.
Tonight’s SmackDown will take place at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Elsewhere on the card, Trick Williams will defend the United States Championship against Baron Corbin in a steel cage match. The show will also feature more Money in the Bank qualifying matches.
