Friday’s WWE SmackDown on September 25 will open with a major United States Championship match. According to Viper Reports, the Steel Cage Match between Trick Williams and Baron Corbin will kick off the night.
WWE announced the match on Wednesday after Nick Aldis said the feud between the two had reached a point where a standard match would not be enough.
“Sometimes a conflict between two people reaches such a level that resolution is no longer an option, only escalation,” Aldis said.
Corbin won the United States Championship by defeating Williams at SummerSlam. Williams, however, won it back at Sunday Night’s Main Event on September 6, after Lil Yachty lasted five minutes against Corbin and earned his ally an immediate shot at the title.
The cage match will be the fourth singles meeting between Williams and Corbin in their feud. Tonight’s SmackDown will take place at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana, and air live on USA Network in the United States.
Two Money in the Bank qualifying matches are also on the card. Finn Bálor, CM Punk and Gunther will square off in the men’s qualifier, and Giulia, Charlotte Flair and Lash Legend will meet in the women’s qualifier.
Money in the Bank is set for October 10 at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans.
