Brock Lesnar and Oba Femi blew off their rivalry at SummerSlam in a Hell in a Cell match that drew a sharply divided response backstage in WWE.
According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there was no internal consensus on the quality of the bout. Some people within the company liked what they saw, while others didn’t share that view.
F4WOnline described the match as short and relatively tame by current Hell in a Cell standards. Lesnar and Femi spent just under 12 minutes inside the structure, and there was no blood throughout the contest.

The post-match segment, on the other hand, drew significant attention. Lesnar returned to the ring, embraced Femi, raised his arm, and publicly pointed to him as the future of WWE. Backstage, Bully Ray witnessed Femi personally seeking out Lesnar in his locker room to thank him for their work together throughout the feud.
The match also officially closed the book on Lesnar’s in-ring career. Three days after SummerSlam, on April 8, the Beast Incarnate announced his retirement on The Pat McAfee Show, which WWE subsequently confirmed.
