Add as a preferred source on Google Chad Gable said he was bothered watching someone else run with El Grande Americano, the gimmick he originated, while he was out of action.
Cody Rhodes brought up Kaiser’s work as the character during a recent episode of What Do You Wanna Talk About?, and Gable didn’t hold back on how he initially felt.
“Just how magical what he did was. I was offended when he took something I had created and built. But I would never take credit away from anyone for bringing it to the level he did.
That is not easy to do here. You can be handed something like that, sulk and say, ‘I hate this.’ I have seen that happen a million times. He did the exact opposite and turned it into absolute gold.”
Gable stressed the comments weren’t a shot at Kaiser. He said Kaiser was put in a tough spot taking over the mask and turned it into something bigger instead of resenting it.
Kaiser stepped into the gimmick after Gable suffered a shoulder injury in June 2025, with WWE keeping El Grande Americano active on TV during Gable’s time out. That set up a feud between the two versions of the character.
Gable said he got why Kaiser took off with it, since putting on the mask had done the same thing for his own work.
“I loved doing that. It was so fun from the moment I put the mask on.”
The program wrapped up on May 30 at AAA’s Noche de Los Grandes, where Kaiser beat Gable in a Mask vs. Mask match. Gable unmasked, revealed his real identity, and put Kaiser over as the one true El Grande Americano.
Gable is back on RAW and set to challenge Penta for the Intercontinental Championship at SummerSlam, while Kaiser has stayed with the Americano gimmick.
