Chelsea Green has named Rhea Ripley as her dream opponent in WWE right now. The Interim WWE Women’s Champion singled out Ripley as the matchup she wants most.
Speaking with ETalk, Green tied her pick directly to the current state of the WWE Women’s Championship. She’s carrying the interim title while Ripley remains the recognized champion despite being sidelined with an injury.
“I think we need to duke it out for a position of maybe permanent residency.”
Green captured the Interim WWE Women’s Championship at SummerSlam on August 2, winning a Ladder Match over Charlotte Flair, Jade Cargill, Lash Legend, and Tiffany Stratton.
Her reign nearly came to a premature end just days later. Green suffered an orbital bone fracture on the August 7 SmackDown and still hasn’t been cleared to compete. On the August 14 episode, Nick Aldis floated the idea of stripping her of the title but ultimately gave her a 30-day window to get cleared and defend the championship.
Ripley, meanwhile, has been out of action since WWE’s European tour after suffering a knee injury. She later revealed a torn meniscus and confirmed on August 6 that she needed surgery.
There is no timetable for her return at this point.
