Kenny Omega has revealed one of the biggest dream matches of his pro wrestling career. The current AEW World Champion named WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle as the opponent he’d most want to face.

Dexerto highlighted the pick in a Sunday post on X, noting that Omega has expressed deep admiration for Angle on numerous occasions over the years.

This isn’t the first time the “Best Bout Machine” has pointed to Angle as an opponent he wishes he could have faced.

In a 2021 interview with Adam’s Apple, Omega explained:

“I felt like I just missed out on maybe wrestling Kurt Angle, and that would have been a dream match for me. He’s a guy that I consider probably one of the best of all time. Especially for what I try to do in the ring and I try to bring in athletics and real sports. He was a jack of all trades and there won’t be anyone like him ever again, I don’t think.”

The admiration goes both ways. Also in 2021, during an interview with Forbes, Angle said that facing Omega would be one of his own dream matches.

“Oh, gosh, that’s one of my dream matches! Kenny is extremely talented. I saw a match with him in Japan and I thought ‘wow this guy’s incredible.’ He reminds me a lot of AJ Styles. They both have the same style where they can fly and do groundwork equally well.”

In 2024, Omega praised Angle once again, calling the Olympic gold medalist his favorite wrestler and the most complete professional in the history of the business, adding that he regularly studies Angle’s matches.

Unfortunately, the dream match will almost certainly never happen. Angle officially retired at WrestleMania 35 in 2019, losing to Baron Corbin.
