Danhausen delivered one of the funniest moments of WWE‘s live event on July 25 at Adventist Health Arena in Stockton, California. He came to the ring with a towel around his waist and another draped over his head, recreating a famous CM Punk moment.
The interruption came after Punk and Cody Rhodes teamed up to beat Gunther and Sami Zayn in the main event. The partners started arguing over the Undisputed WWE Championship and came close to a fight, until Danhausen stepped between them and then raised both of their arms.
The tension had already shown up during the match. Every tag Punk and Rhodes made was punctuated with a chop to the chest, and the current champion even copied some of the American Nightmare’s moves and threatened to walk out on his partner. Earlier in the night, Danhausen had beaten The Miz in a singles match.

The moment was a direct tribute to the night of December 26, 2024, at Madison Square Garden. On that occasion, Punk — wearing a towel and a shower cap — ran out to save Damian Priest from an attack by Dominik Mysterio and Ludwig Kaiser after a steel cage match against Gunther.
There’s also a tie to WWE’s current plans. Dominik, one of the people involved in that original scene, will face Danhausen at SummerSlam. Punk, meanwhile, will defend the Undisputed WWE Championship against Rhodes at the same event.
