Tom Pestock, best known to WWE fans as Baron Corbin, may be nearing a return to the company after a busy run on the independent scene.
According to Fightful Select, Pestock has wrapped up commitments with several promotions he had been working for regularly, including MLW.
His name had already been discussed backstage in WWE. Dave Meltzer said on Wrestling Observer Radio that he had not heard the deal was done, but confirmed that a return had been heavily discussed internally.
After leaving WWE in late 2024, Pestock began working as Bishop Dyer. During that stretch, he appeared for MLW, Maple Leaf Pro, CMLL, GCW/Bloodsport, House of Glory, and even worked a dark match for AEW.
In MLW, Dyer had been teaming with Donovan Dijak as The Skyscrapers, capturing the MLW World Tag Team Championship. Sports Illustrated also noted that he had been working as a freelancer, which explained his appearances for other companies.
There is also speculation that a potential return could be tied to Danhausen’s recent segments on Friday Night SmackDown. WWE itself aired a video on May 15 showing Danhausen “preparing his next masterpiece.”
WWE has not officially confirmed Pestock’s signing as of now. Should the return happen, it remains to be seen whether the company will bring back the Baron Corbin name or keep the Bishop Dyer identity.
