Mick Foley has once again compared AEW to WWE, this time while discussing one area he believes is especially important.
The WWE Hall of Famer made his official AEW debut during the Double or Nothing Buy In on May 24, appearing alongside Renee Paquette. Later on the same show, Foley was confronted by MJF.
Speaking on The Ariel Helwani Show, Foley said AEW does a “much better” job of making its midcard matter.
“This is one of the first things I said to Tony. AEW has done a really good job of making their midcard mean something.
“That’s one place where I will compare the two companies. They do a much better job in the midcard. I think there’s just a little bit more pride.
“Going back to the way WWE did things – they would build a tag team for two or three years, have them win the Tag Team Title multiple times, and then two big stars who’d never teamed would face the tag team and destroy them. Showing you that the tag team was never that important to begin with, that’d be the message that I would get as a fan.
“I don’t think you see that type of thing (in AEW). That was one of the things that drew me in to AEW.”
As previously reported here at Wrestling Noticias, Foley has signed a contract with AEW, meaning he will continue appearing on programming.
