MJF earned the #2 entry spot in the Casino Gauntlet Match at AEW All In with a win on this Wednesday’s Dynamite, held at the Pearl Theater at the Palms in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The former AEW World Champion competed in a Triple Threat Match against Nick Wayne and “Speedball” Mike Bailey.
In the closing stretch, Bailey connected with the Ultima Weapon on Wayne and nearly had the victory, but MJF quickly tossed him to the outside and locked in the Salt of the Earth on Wayne, forcing the submission.
The bout marked MJF’s first in-ring action since August 7, when he dropped the AEW World Championship to Kenny Omega on the Dynamite “Beach Break” episode.
Since losing the title, MJF has been back on AEW television carrying his own “Triple B” version of the championship and proclaiming himself the true AEW champion. Last week, after Andrade defeated Tommaso Ciampa and Komander to claim the #1 entry in the Casino Gauntlet, MJF blindsided him with a brutal post-match attack.
Following tonight’s victory, Andrade’s music hit, but he never came out. MJF used the moment to taunt him before turning his attention back to Kenny Omega and Will Ospreay.
Andrade and MJF are now the first two confirmed entrants with set positions for the Casino Gauntlet at All In, scheduled for August 30 at Wembley Stadium.
The winner of the match will earn a future shot at the AEW World Championship.
