Add as a preferred source on Google Roman Reigns snapped after Seth Rollins brought his family into their final Raw confrontation before SummerSlam.
Rollins interrupted the World Heavyweight Champion as Reigns was asking Los Angeles to acknowledge him. He called himself the bad guy in their rivalry, accused Reigns of being handed his position and argued that, whatever other advantages the champion holds, Reigns has never been the better professional wrestler.
Rollins then returned to the issue that has followed both men for years: Reigns has not been able to put him away. He questioned whether Reigns would get himself disqualified again and said he remains inside the champion’s head.
Reigns said beating Rollins had become something he needed to do, not only for himself, but with his family and the rest of the industry watching. That gave Rollins the opening he wanted.
Rollins brought up WrestleMania 31, when he cashed in his Money in the Bank contract during the Brock Lesnar-Reigns main event, turned it into a three-way and pinned Reigns to win the WWE World Heavyweight title. He then said he hoped Reigns’ family would be at SummerSlam so they could watch him lose again.
Reigns immediately attacked. He dropped Rollins with a Superman Punch and Spear, then went outside for a steel chair. The delay cost him. Rollins recovered and hit a Stomp onto the chair, leaving Reigns down as Raw went off the air.
The rivalry has followed them since they debuted alongside Dean Ambrose as The Shield at Survivor Series 2012. Their last one-on-one match came at Royal Rumble 2022, where Reigns lost by disqualification after refusing to release the Guillotine when Rollins reached the ropes.
