Tyler Breeze’s WWE contract has officially expired, and he has already made clear he’d be interested in signing with Tony Khan’s AEW if given the opportunity.
Speaking on The Certified Mark Show, Breeze said his deal ran out at the start of August.
“One hundred percent. I’ve said it a bunch. This is the crazy part—my contract technically ended at the start of August. I was with WWE for 16 years, so I had a really cool deal.”
Breeze was released from the active roster in June 2021 but later signed an unusual deal. The contract allowed him to work on WWE projects, primarily UpUpDownDown, while also wrestling on the independent circuit and taking outside work.
“The deal that just ended in August, I was able to do WWE stuff, I was able to do independents, I was able to kind of do third-party stuff. I was able to do all this stuff. It was a one-of-a-kind deal that was never seen before and will never be seen again.”
“I had great people in great positions who got that deal for me. Again, it’ll never be done again.”
PWInsider confirmed this week that the deal expired in August and that Breeze is completely free to work for any promotion. There is no indication of formal negotiations with AEW at this point.
Breeze’s last WWE match took place at NXT Homecoming in September 2025, where he lost to Ethan Page in an NXT North American Championship match.
