Drew McIntyre has renewed speculation about a possible in-ring return after more than five months away from WWE programming.
In a post on his official X account Friday, McIntyre shared a short video of himself training in a ring. The clip comes as his return to WWE has once again become a frequent topic of discussion.
McIntyre has not wrestled since April 18, when Jacob Fatu defeated him in a brutal Unsanctioned Match on Night 1 of WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas. He has been off WWE television entirely from that point on.
Much of the hiatus stemmed from McIntyre’s Hollywood commitments. He worked on the Highlander reboot alongside Henry Cavill, as well as on The Last Druid, which stars Russell Crowe.
PWInsider reported in August that McIntyre was back in the United States after filming wrapped, but that there were still no creative plans for his return to TV.
More recently, Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp said he saw McIntyre in Nashville. According to Sapp, McIntyre admitted that he misses wrestling and wishes he had been part of WWE’s recent South American tour. Sapp added that McIntyre has continued to train, working mainly on his mobility, though no timetable for a return was offered.
The timing of the post also stands out because SmackDown is set for tonight in Indianapolis. McIntyre, however, is not officially advertised for the show.
