Pat McAfee could be returning to WWE programming for a rather unexpected role at SummerSlam in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
According to WrestleVotes Radio, there’s internal interest in bringing McAfee in as Oba Femi’s manager for the match against Brock Lesnar, primarily as a way to boost ticket sales for the event. As of now, though, nothing has been officially approved.
The situation stands out because McAfee accompanied Randy Orton in his match against Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship at WrestleMania 42. That alliance was met with heavy backlash from fans and came to an end at the event itself, when Orton hit the commentator with an RKO.
Ahead of the Showcase of the Immortals, McAfee was also used directly in ticket promotion, announcing a 25% discount for the first night of WrestleMania 42.

Now, WWE is once again running into trouble filling a stadium. According to the latest numbers from WrestleTix, the first night of SummerSlam has 22,069 tickets distributed, while the second has reached 23,809. U.S. Bank Stadium has a regular capacity of more than 66,000, though only part of the seating sections are open at this stage.
Femi and Lesnar will meet inside Hell in a Cell, in what will be the third match between the two. Femi won the first encounter at WrestleMania 42, while Lesnar evened the score at Clash in Italy.
The Ruler also won the King of the Ring and had earned the right to a world title match at SummerSlam. However, he gave up that opportunity after being attacked by Lesnar and agreed to the new match instead.
