Dominik Mysterio is expected to remain a heel in WWE, despite months of discussion about a possible character change.

In a new edition of Fightful Select’s Select Answers, the assessment was that if WWE truly intended to turn Mysterio babyface, it likely would have already happened.

WWE’s current programming reinforces that possibility. Mysterio remains the AAA Mega Champion and a member of Judgment Day, but since losing the Intercontinental Championship to Penta on March 2, he has occupied a lower spot on the Monday Night RAW card.

The rivalry with Danhausen began that same night, when Dominik was cursed before his loss to Penta. The storyline has picked up steam in recent weeks: Danhausen caused his elimination in the July 13 gauntlet match, helped Joe Hendry beat him on July 20, and was involved in the segment where Karl-Anthony Towns attacked Dominik at Saturday Night’s Main Event.

Dominik and Danhausen are now officially confirmed for a match at SummerSlam.

In August 2025, Mysterio himself said any move to babyface would need to happen organically and couldn’t be forced. Since then, he has remained a heel, took part in forcing Finn Bálor out of Judgment Day, and lost to the Irishman at WrestleMania 42.

The build toward SummerSlam suggests WWE intends to keep Dominik as a heel, at least until the rivalry with Danhausen ends.
