Add as a preferred source on Google Lola Vice is in for a busy weekend as WWE NXT Women’s Champion. This Saturday, June 27, Vice will put the title on the line against La Hiedra on the next episode of AAA on Fox. The announcement was made by Rey Mysterio, AAA’s current General Manager, during the latest broadcast of the show.
The match will carry historical significance, as it will mark the first time the NXT Women’s Championship has been defended in AAA. The rivalry between Vice and La Hiedra has been building for months.
Vice is also scheduled for another title defense the following day. On Sunday, June 28, she will face Kendal Grey at NXT Great American Bash.
Grey has been positioned as one of NXT’s fastest-rising wrestlers. This past Tuesday, she and Lola defeated Zaria and Kelani Jordan in the main event, in a match that also helped build toward their title clash.
Beyond Vice’s title defense, Rey Mysterio also teased a potentially major AAA debut. The WWE Hall of Famer said the company is close to bringing in a former World Champion who has never wrestled for the Mexican promotion.
“We are very close to bringing in a former WWE World Champion who has never wrestled here in AAA, and honestly, I’m very excited.”
With that, the next episode of AAA on Fox is shaping up to be one of the most important since the start of the WWE partnership.
