Add as a preferred source on Google Andrade El Idolo is getting a huge opportunity at the AEW National Championship. During Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite in Boston, it was confirmed that he’ll face Mark Davis at Redemption, the promotion’s next pay-per-view.
Andrade earned that opportunity on the same show, defeating Don Callis Family member Jake Doyle in a match he needed to win to secure the title shot — which he did.
Andrade’s pursuit of the AEW National Championship traces back to his decision to leave the Don Callis Family at Forbidden Door. Unhappy with Don Callis’s broken promises, particularly about a future title opportunity, the Mexican star set out to go after the titles currently held by the group.
Mark Davis, meanwhile, heads into the event after defending the AEW National Championship against Mike Bailey this past Saturday on Collision. The Australian has held the title since May 9, when he defeated Jack Perry at the Fairway to Hell special to capture his first singles title in AEW.
Redemption will take place Sunday, July 26, at Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada. It will mark the first edition of the pay-per-view.
