Seth Rollins revealed that Becky Lynch convinced him not to wear his ring gear when he appeared for his Money in the Bank cash-in at WWE SummerSlam last year.

During the July 24 edition of The Rich Eisen Show, Lynch discussed her involvement in Rollins’ “Ruse of the Century” storyline and said she strongly opposed WWE’s original wardrobe plan.

“I was a staunch believer that you shouldn’t be in your gear. They wanted you in your gear and I was like, ‘He can’t be in his gear,'” Lynch said.

Rollins explained that the original idea was for him to already be dressed to compete because the cash-in would immediately become an official match.

“The initial was, ‘Oh, you’re coming out because you’re cashing-in, you know. You have to be in your gear because it’s gonna be a match.’ And she was like, ‘Absolutely not. If you’re in your gear, then they know. It’s a dead giveaway. Don’t do it.’ I didn’t know. Always listen to The Man.”

The SummerSlam Cash-In

Rollins won the men’s Money in the Bank ladder match on June 7, 2025, becoming the second man to win the match twice. His first victory came in 2014.

The build to the cash-in began when Rollins appeared to injure his knee against LA Knight at Saturday Night’s Main Event on July 12. He spent the following weeks on crutches and in a knee brace, which helped remove the expectation that he could compete at SummerSlam.

Rollins appeared after CM Punk defeated Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship in the main event of SummerSlam night one on August 2. He dropped the crutches, removed the brace, struck Punk with the briefcase and hit a Stomp to win the title.
