Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins closing out WWE SummerSlam may be about more than just the World Heavyweight Title.
Fightful Select reports there has been plenty of backstage chatter that WWE has something significant lined up for after Sunday’s main event, though the specifics are being kept close to the vest.
Reigns defends the World Heavyweight Championship against Rollins in the main event of SummerSlam Night 2 on Sunday, 8/2, at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.
It will be just their third singles match on a PLE. Rollins beat Reigns at Money in the Bank 2016 and again at the 2022 Royal Rumble, though that one came by disqualification, so Reigns held onto the Universal Title.
On the go-home Raw, Reigns tried to call back to Rollins’ 2014 betrayal with a steel chair, only for Rollins to counter with a Stomp and stand tall as the show went off the air.
