Orange Cassidy could be close to retiring one of the most recognizable pieces of his pro wrestling look. The AEW star revealed he’s considering ditching the denim jacket he has worn since 2017.
In an interview with Simon Miller’s Under The Mat, Cassidy explained the jacket is the same one he has been wearing for almost a decade. He joked that it could already belong in a museum.
“This could go to a museum. I’ve had this jacket and these—I don’t know these pants—but this jacket since 2017. And it’s been through some of the biggest matches of my career. It’s been through the biggest events of my career.”
But putting the jacket back on for the interview, Orange Cassidy admitted that, for the first time, he seriously thought about setting it aside.
“I eventually—I actually put it on today and I was like, this is it. Might be time to hang her up.”
A possible retirement for the jacket would not mean a complete change to Cassidy’s look. When Simon Miller asked if there was another piece ready to replace it, Cassidy said he keeps a considerable stock of denim.
“Oh no, I have a whole closet full of denim. I just like it. I like the old tried and true.”
The jacket’s longevity even predates Cassidy’s run in AEW. He competed in the Casino Battle Royale at the first Double or Nothing, held on May 25, 2019, more than two years after he started wearing it.
For now, Cassidy hasn’t confirmed he will actually stop wearing the jacket, nor has he set a date for it. The denim-based style will still be part of his presentation.
