Sol Ruca, who captured the WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship by defeating Becky Lynch at Clash in Italy, responded to criticism that she is not ready for such a prominent role on WWE’s main roster.
The win took place last Sunday at the Inalpi Arena in Turin, where Ruca hit Lynch with a Sol Snatcher and ended the Irish star’s title reign after 43 days.
During a recent appearance on the No-Contest Wrestling Podcast, hosted by O’Shea Jackson Jr. and TJ Jefferson, Ruca addressed the doubts coming from some fans.
“It feels really good. I’m not gonna lie. It is definitely like a confidence boost,” Ruca said. “I’ve said this on multiple interviews since getting this title, but it is a confidence boost to know that they see something in me, and that this is where I’m supposed to be.”
“They think that I don’t have what it takes, or it’s too soon, or whatever whatever. But, I mean, I’m the one sitting here with the Intercontinental Championship and I think it’s right where it belongs.”
WWE is expected to continue positioning Ruca as one of the top new names in the women’s division in the coming weeks.
