Add as a preferred source on Google The Undertaker was directly involved in creating one of the top rivalries in AAA’s recent history under WWE ownership. Alongside Jeremy Borash, the Hall of Famer came up with the idea for the match between El Grande Americano and the Original El Grande Americano.
During a recent interview with Insight with Chris Van Vliet, The Undertaker said Ludwig Kaiser and Chad Gable took the idea further than he originally planned.
“Myself and Jeremy Borash kind of had this idea, but El Grande and Chad Gable, man, they took the thought and the idea, and they really took it to a whole different level.
There were some highly motivating speeches that I gave both of them before they would go out.
I would reiterate to them how important what they’re about to go out and do is not only for AAA but for their own personal careers, trying to motivate them to do things differently and be more edgy, more aggressive, more violent, right? It took a while for that to kind of set in, and for them to see my vision.”
The rivalry began after Gable’s injury opened the door for Kaiser to take over the character. When the original performer returned as the Original El Grande Americano, the two began battling over the masked wrestler’s identity in AAA as well.
The feud concluded at Noche de Los Grandes on May 30, 2026, at Arena Monterrey. Kaiser defeated Gable in a No Disqualification Mask vs. Mask match, forcing his rival to unmask and reveal his true identity.
After ending the character and seeking redemption on Monday Night RAW, Penta defeated Penta at SummerSlam on August 2 to win the Intercontinental Championship.
During the same interview, The Deadman explained that, in simple terms, he serves as AAA’s head of creative. His goal is for the company to present a product that feels different from Monday Night RAW, Friday Night SmackDown and NXT, with a greater emphasis on storytelling, athleticism and aggression.
