Add as a preferred source on Google Triple H had high praise for Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins after the two closed out Night 2 of WWE SummerSlam on Sunday, August 2, at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Reigns beat Rollins in a match that went more than 33 minutes to retain the World Heavyweight Championship. Speaking on the post-show, WWE’s chief content officer said the former Shield members were working on another level.
“If that was the final chapter, that absolutely delivered on what a final chapter should be. Those two are operating on a different level, especially when it comes to each other. Seth Rollins knows how to push him further than anybody else. For 14 years, he’s pushed him further than anybody else.”
The closing stretch was full of callbacks to The Shield. Rollins hit the rebound lariat Dean Ambrose used as a signature, and Reigns answered right back with Dirty Deeds.
Both men grabbed steel chairs in a nod to Rollins’ 2014 betrayal, but Reigns threw his out of the ring. He hit three straight Spears for the pin, and the two shared The Shield fist bump after the match.
Going into SummerSlam, Rollins led their singles series 5-4 with one draw. Reigns’ win evened it at 5-5 and was his first singles win over Rollins on a premium live event.
