TNA added another layer of mystery to Slammiversary on Friday, teasing the possible return of Amazing Red for the June 28 pay-per-view at Agganis Arena in Boston.

The company posted a promotional video showing close-up shots of an unidentified wrestler’s gear, boots, and tattoo. Shortly before that, TNA President Carlos Silva wrote that “SLAMM” would be “Amazing,” along with a red square and an “X,” all but pointing speculation toward Red.

Despite the strong teaser, TNA has not officially confirmed what role Amazing Red would have at the event, or whether he will actually be part of the X-Division Championship match. The key detail, however, is that Slammiversary’s Ultimate X match still has four open spots, with Cedric Alexander defending the title against Leon Slater and other participants still to be announced.

Red is one of the most symbolic names from the early years of the X-Division. During his TNA run, he won the X-Division Championship three times between 2003 and 2010 and has not wrestled for the company since 2011, though he remains active on the independent scene, mainly through House of Glory.

His presence would also carry major nostalgia value, especially at a Slammiversary event built around the company’s history. Along with Ultimate X, the show already features Mike Santana vs. Nic Nemeth for the TNA World Championship, The System defending the tag team titles in a Ladder Match against The Hardys and The Righteous, and Léi Yǐng Lee vs. Xia Brookside for the Knockouts World Championship.

It remains to be seen whether TNA will use Amazing Red as a surprise Ultimate X entrant or simply as a special appearance. Either way, the tease has already put the veteran back at the center of the X-Division conversation.
