Add as a preferred source on Google AEW could have some surprises in store for tonight’s Redemption pay-per-view at the Bell Centre in Montreal, beyond what’s on the announced card.
According to Fightful Select, several wrestlers with no matches booked for the show are in town, and the expectation is that some of them will be used during the broadcast, though which names have not been revealed.
AEW is also said to have plans involving “Hangman” Adam Page and Swerve Strickland to help promote All In. Neither is officially advertised for Redemption.
The chances of a Swerve appearance picked up after AEW President Tony Khan promised another update on Strickland’s future once the pay-per-view wraps. During the event’s media call, Khan said Strickland is in good standing with the company and had been keeping busy with outside commitments.
Strickland hasn’t wrestled since June 28, when he lost to Will Ospreay in the final of the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament at Forbidden Door.
Page, on the other hand, returned on the July 11 episode of AEW Collision after nearly four months away. He confirmed that night that he intends to keep his promise and never challenge for the AEW World Championship again.
The plans for both wrestlers reinforce how much weight Redemption carries as the final pay-per-view before All In, set for August 30 at Wembley Stadium in London.
